AEG #1 Half-day without lunch - PANORAMIC IZMIR

Departure from the hotel to visit the ancient Agora, then the Mount Pagos (crown of Smyrna), Alexander the Great’s Castle overlooking the Izmir Bay and the city. Visit the Archaeological Museum. Those wishing to visit the Old Bazaar will be left by “Balcova” Mountain which is reached by cable cars. Return to the hotel.

AEG #2 Full-day with lunch - EPHESUS

Departure from the hotel to Ephesus, the city dedicated to Artemis. Visit the ruins from the period of St. Paul, the Odeon, the Monumental fountain, Temples, the Library, the Great Theatre and the Double Church. Lunch. Visit the Archaeological Museum and St. John’s Basilica and his Tomb, the Temple of Artemis one of the Seven Wonders of the World and the Shrine of Virgin Mary, where she spent the last years of her life. Return to the hotel.

AEG #3 Full-day with lunch - PERGAMON

Departure from the hotel to Pergamon, driving along the coast of the mythical Aegean Sea. Visit the Acropolis, the Asclepion, the Temple of Athena, the Dionysus and the Altar of Zeus. Lunch en route. Return to the hotel.

AEG #4 Full-day with lunch - SARDIS & MAGNESIA

Departure from the hotel to “Sardis”, the capital of ancient Lydia. See the ruins of the Temple of Cybele and Diana, where a church was added later. See the Golden River “Pactolos”, and the Royal Road. Visit the reconstructed largest antique Synagogue and the Gymnasium. On the way to Manisa, see the rock cut relief of Cybele. After lunch, visit the Archaeological Museum, the Mosque of Muradiye in Manisa. Return to the hotel.

AEG #5 Full-day with lunch - PRIENE, MILETUS AND DIDYMA

Leave Izmir for Priene, the first planned city of the ancient world. Visit the Theatre, the Temple of Athena, the Prytaneum, the Agora, the Altar of Zeus and Cybele. Lunch. Then, proceed to Miletus, one of the principal Ionian cities and home of Thales, twice visited by St. Paul. Visit the Byzantine fortress, the theatre, the Nymphoion, the Bouleterion, the Faustina Bath and the Ilyas Bey Mosque. Proceed to Didyma and visit the best-preserved temple of Apollo. Return to the hotel.

AEG #6 Full-day with lunch - PAMUKKALE

Departure from the hotel and drive to Pamukkale, the Cotton Castle, one of the most spectacular sites. See the wonderful formations of stalactite and watch the cataracts falling into the Basin at the bottom of the mountain. Walk around the ancient city of Hierapolis, the monuments and thermal baths, see the theatre with its very well preserved stage and the Temple of Apollo. Then, drive to Aphrodisias, an archeological site which has been excavated by the late Prof. Kenan Erim of the New York University. See its well-preserved Stadium, Theatre, Baths, Agora and an outstanding Museum. Return to the hotel.

AEG #7 Two days, full board - PAMUKKALE & APHRODISIAS

Day 1 - Departure to Pamukkale, the “Cotton Castle” which is one of the most spectacular sites. See the wonderful formations of stalactite and watch the cataracts falling into the Basin at the bottom of the mountain. Walk around the ancient city of Hierapolis, the monuments and swimming in the Hot Spring Water pools, thermal baths, see the theatre with its very well preserved stage and the Temple of Apollo. Dinner and overnight at the hotel in Pamukkale (Lunch & Dinner).

Day 2 - Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Aphrodisias, an archeological site which has been excavated by the late Prof. Kenan Erim of the New York University. See its well-preserved Stadium, Theatre, Baths, Agora and an outstanding Museum. Lunch en route. Return to Izmir or Kusadasi, to the hotel (Breakfast & Lunch).
